GuestWisely Search Engine

Introduction

Give your stand-alone website a powerful upgrade with the GuestWisely Search Engine - a plug-and-play tool that brings professional-grade search functionality without the need for custom development.

While most software providers only offer this as a costly custom solution (if at all), GuestWisely delivers it as a simple, subscription-based add-on that’s quick to set up and ready in minutes.

You can access the feature via the GuestWisely left side bar, under Website > Search Engine. Ideal for users who want to keep their existing website while boosting conversions and enhancing the homepage experience.

The GuestWisely Search Engine delivers flexible, high-performing search logic right out of the box. This tutorial will guide you through all configuration tabs, empowering you to design, filter and link search results with ease.

Let’s get started!

Search bar configuration

Customize how the search bar appears and behaves on your homepage:

  1. Go to Search Engine > Search Bar.

  2. Select Language at top right.

  3. Adjust the Search Options as needed

  1. Scroll down to configure Additional Filters tailored to your properties
(Note: Amenities filters are only available for integrated GuestWisely websites)

  1. Watch your Search Bar Preview change in real time.

Adjust search results colors

Match the visual appearance of search results to your brand style:

  1. In the Search Results tab, select color themes and design preferences.

  2. You’ll see a live preview as you make changes.

  3. Click Save to apply.

Scroll down to find additional settings that apply only to stand-alone websites using our shortcode logic:

Assign criteria per property

Make your filters functional by assigning them to each specific property:

  1. Go to the Assign Search Criteria tab.

  2. The columns shown will reflect the criteria you enabled under Standard Filters in the Additional Filters section of the Search Bar tab.

  3. For each property, tick the boxes that match the applicable criteria. You can assign up to 8 unique search criteria per property.

Link Property Pages

Connect search results to the correct property pages on your external website. Since your website is a stand-alone site, not a purpose-built GuestWisely website with native integrations, the system doesn’t automatically know how to redirect search results to your individual property pages. Fortunately, you can easily configure this under the Link Property Pages tab in GuestWisely:

  • For each property listed, enter the exact URL where it appears on your stand-alone website.

  • Once all URLs are added, click Save.

Guests will now be redirected to the correct property page, ensuring a seamless, professional browsing experience.

Additionally, to share these links via email, simply insert the shortcode [PROPERTY_LINK] into your email for a specific booking.

Short Code

Embed the GuestWisely Search Engine into your homepage with a simple code snippet.

After you configured your settings using the other tabs, you can now install our Search Engine on your stand-alone website. The Search Engine works through custom HTML codes, which are user-configurable and specific to each user’s GuestWisely accounts.

Codes can be found in the Website > Search Engine > Short Code tab.

  1. Click the Copy Code button to copy the short code.

  2. Paste the code into your stand-alone Website CMS, and voilà, you’ll have a new search engine on your homepage.

Note: If you have a GuestWisely Website, it is provided on a fully integrated basis, so you don’t need to copy the code. No Booking Engine, no Search Engine, no API needed. Once your properties are configured in your GuestWisely account, everything syncs automatically.
