Aurora Theme - Location Pages

Introduction

New to GuestWisley is dynamic location pages set up through a custom post type. As mentioned in the previous article, the template for location item pages are controlled in the Divi Theme Builder, which (if all previous steps were followed for global styling) should already be ready for use.

Before we take a look at how to configure each location, you will notice there is a location category page set up by default. This contains a grid that is set up using the Loop Post feature to pull through your custom post types automatically. So this will handle itself if all location posts are filled in correctly and in full.

Add Your Locations Data

To configure, visit Locations in the left WP menu and visit one of the default examples in the list. There are several text fields, images and shortcodes to apply for your chosen location.

  1. Page and grid item title

  2. Hero banner image

  3. Title to go above the location description/summary

  4. A text editor for you to provide some local area information to your guests

  5. A featured image that will display on your category page grid

Following these is a series of shortcodes which will need ‘city’ and ‘limit’ parameters updating. The property limit should be a sensible number to avoid page load speeds being heavily affected:

  1. Featured properties Shortcode

  1. Category Grid Shortcode

  2. Location Map Shortcode

Next, update the link that is assigned to the final page button - to visit the full listings in that location using a default search parameter for the property results page.

Finally, there are up to four sets of fields to add your top recommendations for the location. Add a title, description and photo for each.
